What happens to the thrust limit if the thrust levers are between detents?

It is computed to the limit of the next higher detent

Detents on thrust levers create fixed power limits. When the levers sit between those fixed steps, the control logic uses the limit tied to the next higher detent. This keeps the thrust within a safe, predictable bound even though the lever position isn’t exactly on a detent. So, if the lower detent defines a certain limit and the next higher detent defines a higher limit, the system enforces that higher limit when you’re between them. In short, the thrust limit becomes the limit of the next higher detent.
